How to reload

I don't see that the reload command is exposed anymore. how do you reload JS files that you create and modify in the js_plugins directories?

For instance, I'd like to create a folder js-plugins/mine to put my own js files in as I develop and test, but I can't figure out how to get modified files to reload unless I shut down and restart the bukkit server.

In addition, if we create our own useful plugins (like a pyramid, similar to your temple, or an entire dungeon creator), do you want to know about them to include in your repository?

Hi @edonaldson,

You're right - the reload() javascript method is no longer exposed. To reload your changes just use the normal bukkit 'reload' command instead. This will reload all of the plugins.

I am running a tekkit server, and /reload is not available, but the tekkit /treload is except if breaks things in the players worlds (mostly my son and his friends). Would it be possible to have a reload for scriptcraft only, or perhaps reload a specific folder?

Unfortunately no. The load() function keeps a cache of files it has loaded and won't re-evaluate a file it has already loaded. This is by design.

I found a solution, there is a bukkit plugin (http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/reloader/) that can relaod a single plugin and not reload the others.

When you launch the minecraft client, it forcess the folder with minecraft.jar to be the current working directory. You can load js files relative to that path. For instance, i created a symlink to ~/creations in my minecraft folder and added js files in there. i could then do /js load('crations/myscript.js'); the file was always re-read, but unless using the javascript "delete" keyword, any previous declarations persisted if not redefined by reloading the script.

correction, i have bukkit.jar and minecraft.jar in the same folder, all paths are relative to the server, not the client.

Ugly little workaround: when you need to reload after updating a script, copy your file to a temp-file (like t0001.js) and load that file.

Just make sure to use a new name every time you want to reload and that you delete the files before restarting the server.

I’m not sure why sometimes the files get locked. It doesn’t happen all the time, but it happens often enough to be problematic.

Sure. I can’t save the file. I’ll be editing the file on the server and when I save them, it forces me to save under a different name, or to restart the minecraft server (which is thankfully very fast). It doesn’t happened every time, and there doesn’t seem to be a pattern to it. Sometimes I can save and reload the file several times, and sometimes it happens right away.
