I feel like the original implementation in adapter.py is cleaner, it doesn't put everything inside a
if choice_hidden_states.

What is the reason behind this change?

my concern is if choice_hidden_states is none or empty, do we send the hidden states chunk? In the implementation of adapter.py, it will still send
nvm, exclude_if_none can handle that
