How can I install every package in the nirsoft bucket at once ?

I just want all of these apps installed, so that when I need them, they're there and I can find them with a simple start menu search in openshell

That seems to have mostly worked
Although on my system the bucket is called nirsoft-alternative

and so I ran

powershell -command "Get-ChildItem .\scoop\buckets\nirsoft-alternative\bucket\ | foreach { scoop install $_.BaseName }"

Here is the log from that

scoop.install.nirsoft.txt

I tried saving the console coloring, but after trying notepad++,wordpad, libreoffice writer and quilljs, but nothing could keep the console text colours

What there is to see, is that some installs are getting interrupted by windows defender
I considered temporarily disabling windows defender, but then it would just erase the files when it came back on.

I think there need to be a way to put a file exception for the problematic files, but I have no idea how to do that !

Here is a list of only the red text that I've seen in the log

nirsoft.install.problems.txt

Many of these say successful install
But when I check in the actual folder, like scoop\apps\produkey\1.97

The folder is actually empty, only the shims are there

For some I was able to "restore" the file in windows defender

But I suspect they will get caught again without an explicit exemption in place.

This did not work for the ones that failed to install

Overall, most of these worked just fine and it is only the password extractors that failed to install

I tried manually adding the allowed, but they keep disappearing and there are quite a few of them !

I don't think external programs can easily control an AV program.

Do when you are aware of the risks this can cause.

Excludes scoop\cache (for defender, on Windows Security -> Virus & threat protection settings -> Exclusions -> Add or remove exclusions), once trusted program installations are blocked by defender, you can exclude them manually then reinstall.

  [Excludes 'scoop\apps\<foo>' manually]

> scoop uninstall <foo>; scoop install <foo>

  [Due to the exclusion, you do not need to re-download files]

Personally, I've excluded entire Scoop dir, you can also see a suggestion for excluding Scoop when execute scoop checkup.

Ok I think I figured out how to create the exception

Creating the exclusionvia powershell
powershell -Command Add-MpPreference -ExclusionPath "$env:USERPROFILE\scoop"

Verify the exclusion is in place
powershell -Command "Get-MpPreference | Select-Object -ExpandProperty ExclusionPath"

And now running the previous commands again

scoop bucket add nirsoft-alternative https://github.com/ScoopInstaller/Nirsoft.git
powershell -command "Get-ChildItem .\scoop\buckets\nirsoft-alternative\bucket\ | foreach { scoop install $_.BaseName }"

It certainly does less error messages !

But it hangs like here

It will not continue unless you press enter
Then this appears

I suspect that the downloading and unpacking is being done somewhere outside of %userprofile%\scoop and that is why it is still tripping up. That folder should also be added to the exclusion list and that might solve it ?

Failed for a different reason from the others, it simply failed the hash check, this might be an error in the bucket ?

All the others have failed during the 7zip phase

Ah but this left being 7zip.log files !
