In Customizing the development environment for Copilot coding agent there is this note that Coding Agent only works on Linux runners:

Is this a temporary restriction and it will eventually work on the full suite of GH Runners so that I can use it on Windows build environments? Or should I anticipate this to be like Codespaces where a Windows ephemeral dev environment will just never exist and I need to make my builds work on Linux?

It feels like Windows has become the "forgotten child" here – neither GitHub-hosted Copilot Agents nor self-hosted options show any love for it. 😅
But in reality, a huge number of enterprise and desktop developers still rely heavily on Windows-specific stacks (WPF, WinForms, COM, Windows SDKs, installers, etc.). Without Windows support, Copilot Agents can't help in many real-world scenarios.
So +1 for Windows support in Copilot Agents! Even if full parity takes time, an official roadmap item or at least a confirmed plan would be very valuable for those of us who live in the Windows ecosystem every day.
